Anchor Health Concierge Medicine provides comprehensive primary care, focusing on disease prevention and overall health. Some of the general and specialty areas covered include:

Cardiovascular Risk Reduction

For those who are at risk for heart disease or who would like to mitigate further complications of heart disease, risk reduction techniques include stress management, exercise recommendations, and nutrition assessment and education.

Hypertension (high blood pressure)

Normal blood pressure is below 120/80 mm Hg. Blood pressure of 120 to 139 systolic (the top number in a reading) or 80 to 89 diastolic (the bottom number) is considered prehypertension. Blood pressure above 139 mm Hg systolic or above 89 mm Hg diastolic is considered high blood pressure. High blood pressure increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney disease.

Diabetes

Diabetes is condition characterized by abnormal metabolism and inappropriately high blood sugar. There are 2 classifications of diabetes: Type 1 diabetes when the pancreas does not make enough insulin and Type 2 diabetes when the body cannot t respond normally to the insulin that is made. This causes glucose levels in the blood to rise, leading to symptoms such as increased urination, extreme thirst, and unexplained weight loss.

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)

Narrowing and hardening of the arteries that supply blood to the heart due to the buildup of plaque in the artery wall. CAD is the most common type of heart disease which can cause angina (chest pain) heart attack and contribute to heart failure and arrhythmias.

Peripheral Vascular Disease (PAD)

Peripheral artery disease is atherosclerosis (narrowing or blockage of arteries due to the buildup of fatty deposits) affecting the arteries that supply blood to the legs and feet.

Carotid Artery Disease

Carotid artery disease occurs when the major arteries in your neck become narrowed or blocked due to the build up of plaque, called (atherosclerosis) or hardening of the arteries. Carotid artery disease may not cause symptoms in its early stages but can lead to stroke. Symptoms include weakness, numbness, or tingling sensation on one side of your body, inability to control movement of an arm or leg, lost vision in one eye and inability to speak clearly.
