Adult Immunization (vaccination)
Immunization is a safe, effective and simple way to prevent life-threatening illnesses, not only for infants and children, but also for adults. In fact, adults in the United States have a far greater risk than children of dying from a vaccine-preventable disease. The good news is that immunizations can protect you. Which immunizations should you get? That depends on your age and your general health. Even your lifestyle and profession can make a difference in which immunizations you need. That's why you should talk to your Anchor Health Centers Internal Medicine Physician.
Travel Immunization
Planning on international travel? Whether you are traveling for work or for pleasure, be sure to contact your internist if your journey will take you outside of the United States. You may require immunizations to protect you from infectious diseases common in the areas that you plan to visit, especially if your plans take you to developing countries. As soon your destinations are planned, schedule an appointment with your internist. Timing is important because some vaccinations need time in your system before they reach full protection, or may require two or more shots administered over a number of weeks.
