Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis (OA), also called osteoarthroses or degenerative joint disease, is the most common type of arthritis. OA is a chronic condition characterized by the breakdown of the joint’s cartilage. The breakdown of cartilage causes the bones to rub against each other, causing stiffness, pain and loss of movement in the joint.
Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a disease in which bones become fragile and more likely to break. If not prevented or if left untreated, osteoporosis can progress painlessly until a bone breaks. These broken bones, also known as fractures, occur typically in the hip, spine, and wrist. Any bone can be affected, but of special concern are fractures of the hip and spine. A hip fracture almost always requires hospitalization and major surgery. It can impair a person's ability to walk unassisted and may cause prolonged or permanent disability or even death. Spinal or vertebral fractures also have serious consequences, including loss of height, severe back pain, and deformity.
Spinal nerve disorders
There are many types of back and neck disorders resulting from injury, aging, general health and lifestyle. Most spinal disorders are known to result from soft tissue injury, structural injury, and degenerative, or congenital conditions. There are treatments available for the treatment of disorders such as Compressive Neuropathy where nerves in the spine are compressed, Sciatica, involving one or several of the lower spinal nerves that make up the sciatic nerve and Peripheral Neuropathy, a degenerative, toxic, or nutritional condition.
Disk problems
Disk conditions and injuries such as degenerative disk disease, bulging disk, herniated lumbar disk, intervertebral disk, and herniated disks are among the most common type of problems causing back pain or neck pain. The pain associated with these conditions can be excruciating, chronic and may affect movements and every day life. If left untreated, permanent injury may result.
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia syndrome affects the muscles and soft tissue in the form of chronic and widespread pain. Symptoms include chronic pain in the muscles, fatigue, sleep problems, and painful tender points or trigger points at certain parts of the body. Fibromyalgia pain and other symptoms can be relieved through medications, lifestyle changes, stress management, and other fibromyalgia treatment.
Myofascial pain
Myofascial pain syndrome is a chronic form of muscle pain, centering around sensitive points in your muscles called trigger points, which are painful when touched. The pain can spread throughout the affected muscle. Options for myofascial pain syndrome treatment may include physical therapy, trigger point injections or medication, which can provide pain relief.
Sports and musculoskeletal injuries
Musculoskeletal injuries constitute the largest class of athletic injuries. Any injury that occurs to a skeletal muscle, tendon, ligament, joint, or a blood vessel that services skeletal muscle and any related tissues is a musculoskeletal injury. Injuries due to overuse, injury to the ligaments such as sprains, injuries to muscle fiber known as strains, tendonitis and stress fractures are among the most common musculoskeletal injuries. Participation in sports, along with a healthy and active lifestyle pose an inherent risk of musculoskeletal injury.
